Lorne police sieze drugs in schoolies territory

Local police have arrested a man after seizing a large amount of drugs believed to be destined for sale to school leavers celebrating schoolies at Lorne.

The arrest occurred after patrolling police observed the driver of a red Hyundai acting suspicious on Charles Street about 1.00am.

When police intercepted the car, a male passenger got out and fled, with the driver, a 20-year-old Anglesea man, remaining at the scene.

A search of the vehicle resulted in police allegedly finding a significant quantity of methamphetamine, ketamine, cannabis, deal bags and a large amount of cash.

The man is currently being interviewed by police and is expected to be charged later in the morning.
