Lost 80-year-old found in remote WA

AMSA

The Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) has assisted Western Australian Police (WA Police) in the search for a missing 80-year-old man on a property in Lake Barlee, near Sandstone, in remote mid-west Western Australia.

The man left his vehicle on the property on Friday afternoon (19 August) and failed to return home by the expected time.

AMSA's Response Centre tasked the Perth-based Challenger rescue aircraft to conduct an aerial search of the area on Saturday but was unable to locate him. The aircraft returned to the area on Sunday and dropped supplies to ground search crews and assisted with communications relays to support the search.

Due to the efforts of the crew and searchers the man was located about 2.30pm (AEST) on Sunday.

Any further enquiries should be directed to WA Police.
