Northbridge will be a sea of colour when the Chinese Lunar Calendar flips over on 1 February, signalling the start of the Lunar New Year and welcoming, the Year of the Tiger.
The annual celebration will combine traditional cultural celebrations with contemporary activations in the heart of city.
The City of Perth will celebrate Lunar New Year by decorating Northbridge and the malls with hundreds of red lanterns. On 7, 9 and 11 February, the Chung Wah lion dancers will entertain visitors at the intersection of Forrest Place and the Murray Street Mall at lunchtimes.
The City is again sponsoring the Chung Wah Association for the Perth Chinese New Year Fair. The City of Perth is a long-time partner of the annual cultural event which continues to grow in popularity and fill the City with colour and vibrancy
On Sunday 6 February from 12pm to 9pm, the free community fair will take place in the Perth Cultural Centre and outside the WA Museum Boola Bardip.
Featuring a variety of cultural performances and entertainment including lion and dragon dancing, a multicultural concert, games, rides and stalls, the festival is one for the whole family to enjoy.
"It is a privilege for the community to have the opportunity to experience the culture, food, and traditions of Lunar New Year celebrations right here in Perth," City of Perth Lord Mayor Basil Zempilas said.
"I'd like to thank the Chung Wah Association for hosting this celebration, and for your ongoing contribution to our community.

The City of Perth's relationship with China is an invaluable connection that spans social, cultural, and economic domains. The City has two strong Sister City relationships in China with Nanjing (since 1998) and Chengdu (since 2012).
This year marks the 10th anniversary of our relationship with Chengdu, capital of Sichuan Province.
Chengdu is famous for its fiery Sichuan cuisine and is also the hometown of the giant panda.
