  • An additional 200 parking bays created as part of the $200.1 million Bunbury Regional Hospital redevelopment
  • A dedicated off-site unit for allied health services has also reached practical completion creating a hub for community access
  • Bunbury Regional Hospital will be the largest in regional WA
  • McGowan Government delivering a key election commitment for the South-West community
  • The $200.1 million Bunbury Regional Hospital redevelopment is making good progress with

200 additional car bays now available to ease parking pressures for visitors and patients.

The addition of the new parking bays was prioritised based on feedback from the local community.

An off-site facility and transportable unit has now also been completed, which creates additional office space for non-clinical staff, moving them out of the main hospital building to allow for further redevelopment works to take place.

The fit out of an off-site facility, known as the Homemakers Centre, has also reached practical completion.

The Homemakers Centre is a dedicated allied health facility in a central Bunbury location, which provides a convenient hub for the community to access services while ensuring sufficient space is available to transform the hospital into the biggest in regional Western Australia.

The major redevelopment of Bunbury Hospital is set to deliver a fit-for-purpose facility providing the entire South-West community with access to care, close to home.

Once complete, the redevelopment will deliver additional beds, an expanded emergency department, increased operating theatre capacity, new clinical equipment, new emergency access and mental health facilities, plus WA's first regional training, education and research centre, and a boost to digital capability at the hospital.

As stated by Health Minister Amber-Jade Sanderson:

"I'm pleased to see this priority health infrastructure project, the biggest ever undertaken in regional WA, is making good progress with the completion of an additional 200 parking bays at the hospital.

"Once complete, Bunbury Regional Hospital will be the largest in regional WA.

"The transformation of Bunbury Regional Hospital is set to meet the growing demand of the South-West region for years to come."

As stated by Bunbury MLA Don Punch:

"These important milestones are significant steps in preparing other areas of the hospital for redevelopment while minimising disruption and ensuring continuity of care for patients.

"When attending an appointment or visiting loved ones, the last thing you need to worry about is finding somewhere to park so the addition of these bays will improve the experience of attending the hospital.

"The next steps of the multi-million dollar redevelopment include finalising the Project Definition Plan followed by main works design."
