Malaysia to Partner with TSU in Biotech, Genomics, Microchips

A delegation from Malaysia led by Secretary General of the Malaysian Ministry of Higher Education Datuk Dr. Anesee bin Ibrahim visited Tomsk State University. The visit took place within the framework of the third meeting of the Russian-Malaysian Working Group on Education, Science and Technology in Tomsk. The representatives of Malaysia declared their readiness to collaborate with TSU in the fields of biotechnology, genomics and semiconductors. On the sidelines of the meeting, TSU and the University of Putra Malaysia signed an agreement on cooperation in the field of education and research.

- We are pleased to announce that we would like to cooperate with Tomsk State University in such areas of biotechnology as genomic research and sequencing, as well as in the areas of AI and chemistry, - said Balamurugan Nallamuthu, Senior Principal Assistant Secretary of the International Relations Division of the Ministry of Higher Education of Malaysia, at a meeting with the leadership of TSU.

Besides, the parties discussed the cooperation in the fields of semiconductors and microelectronics, as well as joint work using artificial intelligence.

- For TSU, cooperation with universities and research centers in Malaysia is particularly important, since it is critical for us to be represented on the global academic agenda. Malaysia in this sense is one of the most interesting partners. This is a modern economic and scientific-technical "tiger", while the country has a very strong and dynamic system of higher education and science. Malaysia has well-developed electronics, artificial intelligence, biology, chemistry. In particular, one of the strongest areas of Putra University is agrobiotech. I hope our cooperation will be tight and long, - commented TSU Vice-Rector for International Affairs Artyom Rykun.

Visit of Malaysian delegation to Agrobiotech laboratory

The delegation also visited the TSU chemical-biological cluster - the Higher Engineering School of Agrobiotechnology "Agrobiotech" and the Engineering Chemical Technology Center at TSU.

We shall remind that for three years Agrobiotech has become the leader of the federal project "Advanced Engineering Schools". Projects of Agrobiotech become the best innovative developments at various competitions and exhibitions.

The Engineering Chemical Technology Center at TSU is one of the developers of the Strategy for the Development of the Chemical Industry in Russia until 2042. The center brings to the market knowledge-intensive products such as hydrogen bromide for microelectronics, organic peroxides, sodium tartrate dihydrate and others.
