Man assaulted in Franklin Street

Police are investigating after a serious assault in the city overnight.

About 1.45am on Thursday 28 December, the victim was retrieving something from his car parked in the street on Franklin Street, near Elizabeth Street, when he was approached by a group of four people.

They opened his car doors, threatened him and demanded money. During the struggle, the victim sustained stab wounds to his arm and leg. He managed to run off, heading east, and a member of the public assisted him and rang police.

The 37-year-old man was taken to the Royal Adelaide Hospital by ambulance. Fortunately, his injuries are not serious.

The four suspects walked off empty-handed and were last seen heading west along Franklin Street. They are described as a woman, about 175 cm tall, with a solid build and long hair, and three men, one with a beard and another wearing a beanie or mask. They are all of Caucasian appearance.

Eastern District detectives and crime scene investigators attended and examined the crime scene overnight.
