Man assaulted with hammer during home invasion – Whalan

Mt Druitt Police are investigating an incident after a man was assaulted with a hammer during a home invasion in Whalan overnight.

Police have been told about 8.30pm (Thursday 2 July 2020) three men – one armed with a hammer – entered the Torres Crescent house and began assaulting the 39-year-old man.

The trio left in a vehicle and the injured man contacted police.

A crime scene was established, and inquiries are continuing into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

The man was taken to Mt Druitt Hospital suffering injuires to his arms and hand.

Investigators are now searching for three men described only as having Pacific Islander/Maori appearance.
