Man caught high-range drink driving with three children in car, NSW

A man allegedly caught high-range drink driving on Sydney's Northern Beaches early this morning had three children in the car at the time of the offence.

About 1.45am (Tuesday 1 January 2018), officers from Northern Beaches Police Area Command were patrolling when they observed a Mitsubishi Outlander allegedly driving with its headlights off on Kentwell Road, Allambie Heights.

Police stopped the vehicle and performed a roadside breath test on the driver, a 48-year-old man.

The test returned a positive result and the man was taken to Dee Why Police Station where he returned an alleged breath analysis reading of 0.168.

He was issued a Field Court Attendance Notice for high-range PCA and his licence was suspended.

His passengers – three children, aged two, nine and 10 – and a woman were in the vehicle at the time.

The man is due to appear at Manly Local Court on Wednesday 6 February 2019.

A child at risk notification has been submitted to the Department of Family and Community Services.
