Man Charged After 3D Printed Guns, Ammo Found

Melbourne Crime Investigation Unit detectives have charged a man with nearly a dozen firearms offences after 3D-printed guns and ammunition were located in North Melbourne yesterday.

Detectives executed a search warrant at a property on Melrose Street yesterday morning, arresting a 28-year-old man allegedly manufacturing and storing firearms at the residence.

During the search, officers seized:

  • two 3D-printed handguns
  • 3D-printed ammunition
  • an imitation revolver gun
  • an imitation long-armed rifle
  • a gel blaster assault rifle
  • various firearms parts including barrels, stocks, handle and magazine
  • two gravity knives
  • a laptop allegedly containing blueprints to manufacture firearms
  • a 3D printer

The North Melbourne man has been charged with possess imitation firearm (x9) and possess prohibited weapon (x2).

He was bailed to appear at Melbourne Magistrates' Court on 3 September.
