A man has been charged following investigations into an alleged aggravated break and enter in the state's north last week.
About 12.20am on Saturday (10 May 2025), emergency services were called to a home on Terrigal Drive, Erina, following reports of a home invasion.
Officers attached to Brisbane Water Police District were told an unknown man allegedly broke into the home armed with a bat and a meat cleaver and demanded cash, before assaulting a 37-year-old man and attempted to sexually assault a 38-year-old woman.
The man left the scene in a stolen hatchback.
The occupants were uninjured.
A crime scene was established, and investigations commenced.
A short time later, officers attached to Brisbane Water Police District located the vehicle abandoned on Hereford Drive, Berkeley Vale.
The vehicle was seized to be forensically examined.
Following extensive inquiries, about 2.15pm yesterday (Wednesday 14 May 2025), detectives from Brisbane Water Police District located and arrested a 28-year-old man on Bryant Drive, Tuggerah.
He was taken to Wyong Police Station and charged with aggravated break and enter and commit serious indictable offence-armed, aggravated sexual assault-break and enter with intent, and steal motor vehicle.
He was refused bail to appear before Wyong Local Court today (Thursday 15 May 2025).
