Man Charged Over Melbourne Police Car Ramming Spree

Manningham Crime Investigation Unit detectives have charged a man following a spate of incidents in Melbourne's east this week.

An 18-year-old Olinda man has been charged with a number of offences including aggravated intentional exposure of police officer to risk by driving, aggravated carjacking with an offensive weapon and aggravated burglary.

The charges relate to a number of alleged incidents on Wednesday 27 and Thursday 28 September.

Police were called to reports of an aggravated carjacking near Ruffey Lake Park in Templestowe about 9.30pm, where a car was allegedly stolen.

The victim, a 24-year-old man, was not physically injured during the incident.

The car was recovered by Police in Kett Street in Nunawading, where another vehicle was allegedly stolen during an aggravated burglary about 10.40pm.

Police attended an address on Peppermint Grove, Box Hill South, in relation to an alleged aggravated burglary about 2.30am.

A short time later, a police vehicle was allegedly rammed on Roger Court in Nunawading.

The male driver, an 18-year-old Olinda man, was taken to hospital under police guard.

He's been remanded and will next appear at Melbourne Magistrates' Court on 21 December.
