Protecting Tasmania's Home Court Advantage

Tasmanian Government

Head Coach of the Tasmanian JackJumpers Scott Roth has been announced as the inaugural Tasmania Biosecurity Ambassador.

As ambassador, Mr Roth will support the biosecurity basics community awareness campaign, urging Tasmanians to make the most of our home court advantage.

The campaign will remind Tasmanians to:

* Check your bags.

* Come in clean.

* Stay on the path.

* Report anything unusual.

Minister for Primary Industries and Water, Gavin Peace, said Scott Roth is one of Tasmania's most recognised and respected community leaders.

"Scott's ability to connect with people from all walks of life is second to none, and I couldn't be happier to announce him as our inaugural Biosecurity Ambassador," Minister Pearce said.

"Biosecurity is vitally important to our island state, and it's a responsibility that falls to all of us.

"We want to see more people in the community understand the important role they play in safeguarding what makes our state special.

"Whether you're travelling, exploring the outdoors or out on farms, do the biosecurity basics."

Mr Roth said he was proud to support an issue that affects every Tasmanian.

"When I arrived in Tasmania, one of the things that immediately stood out was how passionate people are about this place," Mr Roth said.

"Whether it's our environment, our industries, our communities or our way of life, there is so much worth protecting.

"In basketball, we know that winning starts with the basics. Success comes from teamwork, preparation and everyone doing their job. Biosecurity is no different."

Future campaigns will focus on community awareness, preparedness, education and showcasing the people who work behind the scenes to protect Tasmania every day.

Mr Roth's Biosecurity Ambassador role forms part of his broader role as Tasmanian Ambassador.
