Man detained after threats to school, South Australia

Police have detained a man in relation to threats made to a school in Taperoo this morning.

At 8am this morning, Thursday 21 February, police were contacted regarding reports a person had made online threats to the school.

Police investigating the matter attended a North Haven address where they located what appeared to be a homemade explosive device. A further search was conducted with the use of an explosives detection dog with further items of interest being located.

A 67-year-old man from North Haven has been detained by police.

He is expected to be charged with manufacturing explosives and possessing explosive substances.

Police would like to reassure the public that the school provided Police with early information ensuring that at no time was there any direct threat to the school community.
