Man dies after stabbing at Wellington

Police are appealing for information following a fatal stabbing south east of Dubbo earlier today.

About 7am (Sunday 3 January 2021), emergency services were called to William Street, Wellington, following reports of a physical altercation involving several people outside a home.

Shortly after, a 24-year-old man presented at Wellington Hospital with stab wounds to his stomach and neck.

He was transferred to Dubbo Hospital, where he died this afternoon.

Officers from Orana Mid-Western Police District attended and established crime scenes.

A 19-year-old man was found at the scene with facial injuries and taken to Dubbo Hospital for treatment.

Upon release from hospital, he was arrested and taken to Dubbo Police Station, where he is assisting with inquiries.

Detectives have established Strike Force Larelar to investigate the circumstances surrounding the man's death.

As inquiries continue, police are urging anyone with dashcam vision of CCTV from around the area to come forward.
