Man dies after workplace accident - Banksmeadow

A man has died following a workplace accident in Sydney's south-east last night.

About 7.30pm yesterday (Thursday 21 April 2022), emergency services responded to reports of a workplace accident at a container terminal at Banksmeadow.

A man believed to be aged in his 50s, suffered serious injuries after being struck by a reversing forklift.

The man was treated on scene by NSW Ambulance, before he was taken to St George Hospital in a critical condition.

Despite the best efforts of emergency staff, the man died in hospital.

Officers attached to Eastern Beaches Police Area Command attended and established a crime scene and commenced an investigation into the incident.

Safework NSW have also commenced an investigation.

Police will prepare a report for the information of the Coroner.
