Man extradited from Perth re 1986 sexual offences

Detectives from the Sexual Crimes Squad have arrested a man in Western Australia as part of an investigation into a number of historical sexual offences in Victoria.

The 59-year-old Perth man faced court yesterday and extradition to Victoria was granted.

He has been charged with gross indecency (x5) and indecent assault (x3).

The offences are alleged to have occurred in Lovely Banks in 1986 and involved two male victims who were aged 11 and 12 years of age at the time.

The man is expected to face Melbourne Magistrates' Court tonight.

Victoria Police encourages all victims of sexual assault and child abuse, and anyone who has knowledge of such a crime, to make a report.
