Man killed in Maffra hit-run

A 36-year-old man has died in hospital after being hit by a stolen car in Maffra early this morning.

The Maffra man was with a friend when he struck on Morrison Street about 3.40am.

The driver fled the scene in the stolen Kia, which has since been located on Roberts Court in Maffra about 6am.

The injured man's friend raised the alarm and emergency services were called.

The victim was airlifted to a Melbourne hospital where he later died.

A crime scene has been established while police work through what occurred and process the scene.

The incident is being investigated jointly by detectives from the Homicide Squad and Major Collision Investigation Unit.
