Man Plunges to Death While Abseiling in Southern Highlands

A man has died after falling down a cliff while abseiling in the Southern Highlands yesterday.

Emergency services were called to Belmore Falls off Belmore Falls Road at Barrengarry, just before 4pm (Monday 11 September 2023), following reports a person had been injured.

Officers attached to The Hume Police District attended arrived to find a /man, aged in his 20s, had fallen while attempting to abseil down a cliff.

The man was declared deceased, and the body was extracted with the assistance of Police Rescue, SES and NSW Ambulance.

Police established a crime scene which has been forensically examined and an investigation is underway into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

A report will be prepared for the coroner.
