Man wanted over assault and robbery at Medindie

Police are searching for a man wanted over an assault and carjacking at Medindie this evening.

Police were called to a hotel at Medindie about 6.15pm on Thursday 2 March by reports of a man causing a disturbance.

Patrols arrived within minutes and were advised the man had assaulted another guest with a knife before storming off. Thankfully the victim only received a scratch and did not require medical treatment.

Another victim flagged down police to report that he had just been robbed of his car at knifepoint a short distance away on Main North Road.

The stolen silver Hyundai sedan was then involved in a crash at the intersection of Prospect Road and Labrina Avenue, Prospect just before 6.30pm.

The driver of the stolen car ran from the scene. The driver of the silver Subaru station wagon was not injured in the collision.

Police searched the area with the assistance of Police Dog Chaos but have not yet located the suspect.

The stolen car was examined by crime scene investigators before both crashed vehicles were towed from the scene.

Investigations are continuing to locate the suspect.
