Construction of the landmark Maroochy Private Hospital has officially reached practical completion, with builder McNab handing over the 10-storey facility to developer Fortius Hospitals earlier this month, more than six weeks ahead of schedule.

The 10-storey hospital is located in the heart of Maroochydore's emerging city centre and forms part of a growing health and research hub that will bring together surgical specialties, allied health services, advanced imaging, clinical trials, and education.

McNab commenced construction in January 2024 and has now officially handed the building over to Fortius Hospitals, who will lead the internal fit-out of the hospital across Levels 8 and 9.

Other medical tenants will also begin fit-out works in their dedicated spaces in the coming weeks, including Sunshine Coast Orthopaedic Group, Sunshine Coast Radiology, Sports & Spinal, and the University of the Sunshine Coast (UniSC), with the hospital on track to open to the public in early 2026.

"Reaching practical completion ahead of schedule is a testament to the dedication and precision of the McNab project team, and we thank them for their wonderful contribution to a facility that will have long-term benefits for the community."

"We're creating more than a hospital; it's a health and research ecosystem designed to raise the bar for private care. This milestone brings us one step closer to opening and offering world-class patient outcomes in a collaborative health environment," said Associate Professor Daevyd Rodda from Maroochy Private Hospital.

Designed with hospital users in mind, the building incorporates a curtain-wall glazed façade to maximise natural light, curved glass corners, and a distinctive cantilevered Level 8. It's also targeting a 4-star Green Building rating, integrating energy efficiency and low-carbon materials throughout the structure.

Once operational in 2026, Maroochy Private Hospital will create over 400 local jobs and expand healthcare access across the region.
