Mayor guest speaker at Euroa Probus Club meeting

Strathbogie Shire Council Mayor Cr Laura Binks recently attended a Euroa Probus Club meeting as the guest speaker.

Invited to join by the club, Cr Binks provided an enlightening presentation about Council's role, its engagement with the community and advocacy to State and Federal Government among various other information.

Cr Binks said the visit was a fantastic way of further engaging with the community to reach out to residents in a face-to-face format.

"I was pleased to share some of the more interesting aspects of local government with the audience, including the fact that Council's role involves so much more than simply dealing with roads, rates and rubbish," she said.

"It was a great opportunity to talk about some of Council's advocacy work which includes our top five projects we are currently seeking government funding for. These include equitable digital and telecommunications infrastructure, reliable power supply infrastructure, bringing rowing to Lake Nagambie for the 2026 Commonwealth Games, the Greening Euroa Project and a nature-based play space.

"We also shared some of our engagement statistics from the first six months of this year which show our community is definitely engaging with us and having their say.

"Some of the highlights from the data including a Facebook reach of 137,463, our online engagement platform Share Strathbogie had 32 projects which had 2,862 contributions."

Audience members were given the opportunity to ask questions following Cr Binks' presentation.

Cr Binks thanked the Euroa Probus Club for inviting her to speak at their meeting.

"It was a great opportunity to share some key information with a group of engaged community members," Cr Binks said.
