7 October 2026: Brady Group has officially opened Brady Hotel Elizabeth Street, a 211-room hotel designed to give business and leisure travellers a comfortable, well-connected base and a more local introduction to Melbourne.
The 31-storey hotel begins in Zevenboom Lane, where guests arrive beneath a large-scale mural by Melbourne artist Kitt Bennett, before travelling to a Level 8 sky lobby capped by a striking glass dome. Above it, city and skyline rooms take in wide views across Melbourne, including 180-degree panoramas from the hotel's semicircular City View rooms.
The official opening on Wednesday 7 October brought together Brady Group Managing Director Tony Brady and Lord Mayor of Melbourne Nick Reece, alongside Brady Group General Manager - Hotels and Hospitality Robert Moore, artist Kitt Bennett, industry guests and local partners.
Lord Mayor of Melbourne Nick Reece said: "It's a pleasure to welcome the sixth brand-new Brady Hotel to Melbourne - giving us our very own Brady bunch!"
"The whole world has cottoned on to Melbourne's magic, with our shopping, culture and events leading to a boom in interstate and international visitors. All these visitors need somewhere to stay - and Brady Hotels continues to deliver with this fantastic new addition to our thriving hotel sector."
The opening also marked a significant milestone for the privately owned Melbourne group. Brady Hotel Elizabeth Street is its sixth Brady-branded property in the city and takes the wider hotel portfolio, including voco Melbourne Central, beyond 1,000 rooms in Melbourne's CBD.
Brady's roots in Melbourne run much deeper than hotels. Since the mid-1970s, the group has developed and built more than 2,900 apartments across the CBD, along with residential projects for other clients. Today it handles everything in-house, from development and design to construction and hotel operations, giving Brady a rare end-to-end involvement in the buildings it creates and operates.
Brady Group Managing Director Tony Brady said: "Opening our sixth Brady hotel and taking our Melbourne portfolio beyond 1,000 rooms is a proud milestone for our family and everyone at Brady. Melbourne is where our business started, where we've continued to invest and where we've built our team."
"Elizabeth Street is another chapter in that story - a building we acquired, designed, developed and constructed, and which our own hotel team now has the privilege of operating."
"We remain enormously confident in Melbourne and the future of its visitor economy, and we look forward to continuing to invest in the city for many years to come."
A MELBOURNE STORY FROM STREET LEVEL UP
Kitt Bennett's 40-metre mural stretches the length of Zevenboom Lane, turning the hotel entrance into a visual diary of Melbourne. Coffee cups, chess pieces, pigeons and bursts of music sit across a layered composition that reveals new details as guests move along the laneway.
Inside, the arrival rises to Level 8 through a glass corridor bordered by gardens. The corridor opens into the glass-domed sky lobby and guest lounge, creating a sense of space and daylight above the street.
For Moore, the journey from mural to dome sums up the hotel's offer: distinctly Melbourne in character, but straightforward in what it gives guests.
"This is a hotel built around what travellers actually use: a good bed, a clean and contemporary room, fast Wi-Fi, fresh air, space to work and a team who knows the city," Moore said.
"We are not interested in scripted hospitality or pushing things guests do not need. Our team can point you towards the right coffee, restaurant, tram or quiet corner, then make sure the essentials work when you come back."
BUILT FOR HOW PEOPLE USE THE CITY
Every room has an opening window, natural light and a walk-in shower. Guests can choose from king, twin, accessible, skyline and city-view rooms, as well as two-bedroom family rooms. All rooms include complimentary Wi-Fi and Chromecast.
The guest-only Level 8 lounge and co-working space gives corporate travellers somewhere to work or meet beyond the room. A cardio gym, self-serve laundry and 24-hour reception support early arrivals, longer projects and short city stays without adding unnecessary complexity.
The hotel is at 278 Little Lonsdale Street, close to Melbourne Central and the State Library of Victoria, with Queen Victoria Market, Chinatown, Hardware Lane, city shopping and theatres within easy reach.
