Members of the Center for Excellence in the Neurosciences recently traveled to Milwaukee, Wisconsin, to attend the Spring Pain Conference.
The conference brings together an independent collection of scientists dedicated to open discussions on original, unpublished research. They include both basic and clinical researchers throughout academia and industry who strive to drive the field forward at all levels.
The conference featured short talks on cutting edge and unpublished basic science, a poster session and a data blitz.
Attendees included Derek Molliver, Ph.D., associate professor in the Department of Biomedical Sciences, Diana Goode, Ph.D., post-doctoral fellow in the Molliver Lab, Josh Havelin, '11, graduate student in Tamara King's lab, Ling Cao, M.D., Ph.D., associate professor in the Department of Biomedical Sciences, and Benjamin Harrison, Ph.D., assistant professor of Biomedical Sciences.
Following the conference, some of the members stayed in Milwaukee for the American Pain Society's annual meeting. The theme of the meeting was Combating the Opioid Epidemic through Innovations in the Treatment of Pain. It included cross-disciplinary panels and rapid 30-minute presentations that showcased the latest research.
