Message of condolence from Commissioner Col Blanch

Commissioner Col Blanch has offered the full support and condolences of the WA Police Force to the Queensland Police Force following the tragic deaths of two of its officers.

Constables Matthew Arnold and Rachel McCrow were fatally shot after attending a rural property in Wieambilla late yesterday afternoon. A member of the public also tragically lost his life in the incident.

"This is a tragic reminder of the dangers that police officers face on a day to day basis and there was undoubtedly extraordinary bravery shown by police in this tragedy," Mr Blanch said.

"Our thoughts are with the families, friends and colleagues of the officers.

"I know WA Police officers have also felt the impact of the deaths, and many have reached out to their colleagues in Queensland to offer support.

"All officers across Australia and New Zealand will be feeling a sense of loss today.

"The law enforcement community comes together at difficult times like this."

Flags will be flown at half-mast as a mark of respect for the fallen officers.
