Methamphetamine seized at Chapel Hill

Two men have been arrested after a large amount of illegal drugs was found at Chapel Hill.

It will be alleged that on Wednesday 4 January, Detectives from Serious and Organised Crime Branch accompanied by STAR Group officers from STAR Group searched a property and located a clandestine laboratory, set up to produce methamphetamine.

Officers spent two days at the rural property processing the lab and searching for further evidence.

A 54-year-old man from Chapel Hill was arrested on 4 January for traffic a large commercial quantity of a controlled drug. He was refused bail, appeared in the Adelaide Magistrates Court on 5 January and was remanded in custody to appear on 13 January 2023.

A 35-year-old man from Angle Park was arrested on 5 January for traffic large commercial quantity of controlled drug. He was refused bail to appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court on 6 January 2023.

Officer in Charge of Serious and Organised Crime Branch, Detective Superintendent Billy Thompson said, "The discovery of a backyard clandestine laboratory (clan lab) like this is sadly another example of the total disregard organised criminals have for the safety of the community.

These type of labs are extremely volatile and dangerous and the drugs produced in them have the potential to cause untold harm to people using them. I encourage anyone who has information about this lab or other drug offending to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000."
