Midvale Skate Park now open

A million-dollar skate park is now open in Midvale for the young people of Midland and surrounds.

The skate park, jointly funded by the City of Swan and Lotterywest, is a space for skaters of all ages and abilities to socialise, learn and practice their skills together.

The City of Swan has worked closely with the community to plan and deliver the region's newest recreation space, which features concrete skate elements, a bowl, bike pump station and racks, drinking fountains and surrounding picnic settings.

City of Swan Mayor Kevin Bailey said the new skate park will create a vibrant space for our young people.

"I'd like to thank Lotterywest for their $1 million contribution, which topped $850,000 of City funding, to deliver this fantastic space for local young people and skating enthusiasts," he said.

"We are grateful to our community for their engagement throughout the process and hope this space is one they can feel proud of for many years to come."

Local residents were invited to collaborate with the City on the artwork for the stake park, working with the artist, Alex Fossils from Fosax Custom Design, to come up with a design.

A community design workshop was held at the Stratton Skate Park in September 2019. The community consultation influenced the design of both Stages 1 and 2 of the skate park.

The park is a space for skaters of all abilities to socialise, learn and practice their skills together.

Midvale Skate Park is located at Lot 300, Gray Drive, Midvale, outside Swan Active Midland.
