Minister Ng Stresses Collaboration at G20 Trade Meeting

Over the weekend, the Honourable Mary Ng, Minister of Export Promotion, International Trade and Economic Development, concluded her participation at the Group of Twenty Trade and Investment Ministers Meeting in Jaipur, India.

At the meeting, Minister Ng encouraged continued collaboration among G20 members to spur economic recovery and improve the global trade outlook. Minister Ng reiterated Canada's commitment to working with G20 members to resolve disruptions to global supply chains and facilitate fairness in digital trade. Minister Ng highlighted Canada's interest and progress in leveraging technology and streamlining processes to digitize trade. Minister Ng also reiterated Canada's commitment to work with G20 members to address the economic and trade impacts of Russia's illegal and unjustifiable war of aggression towards Ukraine.

Minister Ng also met with several counterparts-Valdis Dombrovskis, European Commission Executive Vice-President and Commissioner for Trade; Antonio Tajani, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation for Italy; and Ebrahim Patel, South Africa's Minister of Trade, Industry and Competition-to discuss shared trade priorities.

Following her participation at the G20 Trade and Investment Ministers Meeting, Minister Ng met with global business leaders at the Business 20 (B20). At the B20, she discussed how governments around the world can continue to support businesses to better integrate in global trade.
