Mitchell Youth Council

Mitchell Shire Youth Services is looking for young community leaders across Seymour, Pyalong, Tooborac, Puckapunyal and the surrounding areas to take part in 2020/21 Mitchell Youth Council.

Participating in the program will develop your leadership skills and help make a difference in your community. Our Youth Council has been influential across projects big and small and was vital in securing the new Mental Health Hub in Wallan. This is a great chance for you to get your ideas on the table.

Our Youth Council is an advisory committee that has played a pivotal role in shaping the future for young people in our region. If you are 12-24 years of age and live, work or study in the Northern towns of Mitchell Shire, you can apply now.

Mitchell Youth Council is divided into three wards; North, Central and South. Three members of Youth Council represent the North Ward, six in the Central Ward and three in the South Ward, making a total of twelve. At the moment the South and Central wards positions are occupied, so we are looking for three new members to represent the North.

Youth Council works towards:

  • Help Council understand issues from the perspective of young people
  • Develop local initiatives and programs for young people
  • Advocate on matters that affect young people

If you're motivated to make a difference for your community, learn more or apply now.
