More Canberra businesses eligible for full rollout of ChooseCBR

The ChooseCBR digital voucher initiative to support business is back, giving more local businesses a chance to participate and get more customers discovering what they have to offer.

With $2 million worth of digital vouchers available, new eligibility criteria for businesses, higher voucher amounts and greater discount values, the program offers more for businesses and customers.

Minister for Business and Better Regulation Tara Cheyne said the December 2020 trial had provided the government with valuable feedback from businesses and the community about what worked well and what could be done differently.

"As a result, a number of changes have been made to the program to make it easier for businesses and consumers to participate, to increase the range of businesses participating and to help businesses get the most out of the program.

"We have removed the JobKeeper criterion but left the eligible business types unchanged to ensure the program continues to be available to a broad cross section of our local small business community.

"So, if your business operates in the ACT, has less than $10 million in annual turnover and is in the hospitality, retail, accommodation, personal services or the arts and recreation sectors, you are eligible to participate.

From today, businesses can register online or, if they participated during the trial, reactivate their account.

"Businesses will be supported to get the most out of the program with a Business Toolkit which includes posters, tips, videos and social media assets. There are also a range of resources to support culturally and linguistically diverse Canberrans and businesses," said Minister Cheyne.

Minister Cheyne also announced an increase to the voucher amounts and the discount value, thanks to feedback and data from the trial.

"Voucher amounts have been increased to make the program more attractive for customers and to encourage them to discover and explore new businesses – and to give businesses more opportunities to reward their customers," said Minister Cheyne.

From Wednesday 9 June, customers who have signed up to the program will have three vouchers available to them each day:

  • $10 off when they spend $20 or more
  • $20 off when they spend $40 or more
  • $50 off when they spend $100 or more
