The State Government has provided funding to a consortium led by Cyrenian House to operate 12 Aboriginal residential rehabilitation beds and three low medical withdrawal beds for alcohol and other drug issues in the South-West.
This brings the total number of treatment beds to open in the South-West this year to 34, after Palmerston Association received funding to operate 19 beds in January.
Methamphetamine use is highest in regional Western Australia. The State Government is continuing to address this through its Methamphetamine Action Plan which examines the need to prioritise funding of alcohol and other drug treatment services.
In the 2018-19 Budget, the State Government fast-tracked the delivery of specialist alcohol and drug rehab services through an improved service delivery approach. This has enabled the treatment beds to be made available two years earlier than previously promised, with the shift from a capital build also allowing greater flexibility.
The beds will be located in Nannup and are anticipated to open by June 30, 2019.

"By providing these beds in the South-West, we are enabling people to stay close to their personal supports while they receive treatment.
