More Than 4,000 New Homes On Way In Perth's North

  • New housing developments in Eglinton and Yanchep to deliver 4,100 new homes
  • Yanchep to become a major metropolitan centre as part of Cook Government's priority to ensure every Western Australian has a home
  • Agreements with Satterley and Peet to increase supply

The Cook Government has today announced a boost for housing supply in Perth's growing northern corridor, unlocking land for 4,100 new homes across Eglinton and Yanchep.

Land developer Satterley has been selected to enter into an exclusive working period, to develop 135 hectares across two sites in Eglinton, adjacent to the established Allara estate.

Set to deliver more than 2,100 homes, including up to 300 social homes, both sites are well-located alongside the METRONET Yanchep Line and Eglinton Station, as well as nearby schools.

Subject to the signing of a development management agreement, onsite works are expected to start late this year for the east Eglinton site and early next year for the west site. Sales will start next year for both sites.

A 58-hectare site in Yanchep will also be delivered under a project management agreement with national developer Peet. The site is only minutes from the METRONET Yanchep Station and future city centre.

The project will deliver up to 700 homes, including up to 100 social homes and prioritises the delivery of the Yanchep East Primary School site in the first stage.

Onsite works for the school have started and are expected to commence this year for the first residential lots, with first settlement anticipated in late 2027 and first residents moving into the community in 2028.

In addition to these new communities DevelopmentWA is seeking a developer through expressions of interest to partner or purchase 120 hectares of land in South Yanchep.

The site is expected to deliver 1,300 lots and accommodate 3,380 residents over the next 15 years, including 185 social homes.

As stated by Premier Roger Cook:

"My government is focused on ensuring every Western Australian has a home, and we're delivering on that priority by increasing land supply for more housing.

"Perth's growing northern corridor has been bolstered by our delivery of the Yanchep Rail Extension as part of METRONET.

"Unlocking land for more than 4,000 homes will help more first homebuyers to get into their first home, while also developing the housing construction workforce."

As stated by Transport Minister Rita Saffioti:

"METRONET has not only delivered the biggest transformation of public transport in our State's history but is unlocking massive opportunities for more housing across our State.

"We're delivering thousands of new homes along the METRONET Yanchep Line, which will create new and vibrant communities for families close to essential services.

"Our government is continuing to work closely with industry to drive development around our world-class public transport network and provide more homes for Western Australians."

As stated by Planning and Lands Minister John Carey:

"The Cook Government is doing everything it can to alleviate pressure on the rental market and support more families into their first homes.

"By unlocking land in both the northern and southern corridors, we are setting Perth up for sustainable, long-term growth.

"These partnerships with industry demonstrate confidence in our government's ability to deliver major projects that provide more homes and more choice for Western Australians."

As stated by Education Minister Sabine Winton:

"Our government continues to ensure the growing population in Perth's north has access to schools and quality education.

"The delivery of four new schools across Alkimos, Eglinton and Yanchep builds on the Cook Government's record investment in Western Australian students, teachers and families."

As stated by Butler MLA Lorna Clarke:

"As a mum, I am so pleased that more housing and services are being delivered in Eglinton and Yanchep.

"This land release will help with supply and housing affordability, ensuring local families will be able to go from renting to buying.

"I understand that our population growth means we need more services. That is why Tracey Roberts and I delivered the bulk-billed Medicare Urgent Care Clinic in Yanchep, and it is why the Cook Government is building four new schools in Alkimos, Eglinton and Yanchep.

"We are building Yanchep East Primary School, Eglinton North Primary School, Alkimos North East Primary School and Alkimos North High School alongside this project, tomake our community an even better place to raise a family.

"I am so pleased to see our government continue to ensure housing opportunities and services are delivered to our area and I will always keep advocating for more local services in our community."
