Musical joy at beautiful Billilla

The grounds of Billilla historic mansion will echo with the music of Beethoven, Mozart, Elgar, Dvorak and more this week.

Conducted by Ingrid Martin Bayside Chamber Orchestra will present its first outdoor concert performance in the magnificent Billilla Gardens in Brighton on 5 December.

Players will present an afternoon of well known and loved pieces for strings and wind instruments, as Bayside's season of alfresco Christmas events gets underway.

Bring a picnic and rug or chairs and enjoy an afternoon of classical music..

The concert comes as community consultation begins on the future of the homestead.

A broad community engagement process, beginning on 2 December will gather ideas and possible uses for the building and gardens in an exciting fresh chapter for the iconic property.

The consultation will run until 28 February 2022.

A special Family Day event giving guests a glimpse of yesteryear with old fashioned games and entertainment will be held in the grounds of Billilla in February 2022 as part of the consultation.

Community feedback, along with technical research and feasibility reports, will assist Council in bringing new life to the . home built by miner Robert Wright in 1878.

Council staff will be at the orchestra concert on Saturday 5 December and concert goers will be able to fill out or take a postcard to submit their ideas on the future use of Billilla.

Bayside's younger generation can also have their say by drawing a picture to submit.
