Upgrades are underway at the much-loved Myuna Farm in Doveton, helping to power the farm and protect local waterways.
A new stormwater harvesting system is currently being constructed to collect and treat stormwater. This water will then be used to irrigate the animal paddocks at the farm and the sports fields at nearby Betula Reserve.
This initiative will reduce reliance on clean drinking water and help prevent pollution from entering Dandenong Creek - a win for both the community and the environment!
City of Casey Mayor Cr Stefan Koomen said this project is a fantastic example of how Council is investing in the future.
"Myuna Farm is a cherished local icon in our community, and these improvements will help ensure it continues to thrive for generations to come - while also protecting Dandenong Creek," said Cr Koomen.
The farm's main electrical infrastructure will also undergo an upgrade, including a new switchboard and power supply.
During construction visitors may notice temporary changes to the car park and some activity near the entrance and cafe.
This project is jointly funded by the Council, Melbourne Water and the Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action (DEECA).
Construction is expected to be completed by early 2026.
