Lynda Edwards has been named the 2023 NSW Premier's Woman of the Year after taking out the NSW Aboriginal Woman of the Year award.
Nationals' Member for Dubbo Dugald Saunders congratulated Ms Edwards on the prestigious accomplishments.
"Lynda is proud Wangkumara and Barkandji woman who has been a dedicated voice and volunteer for the Narromine community," Mr Saunders said.
"She has also been a passionate advocate for the financial rights, fairness and inclusion of First Nations people across NSW and Australia."
Nationals' Minister for Women Bronnie Taylor congratulated Ms Edwards on her achievements and acknowledged that her career was driven by a genuine sense of purpose and desire to achieve better outcomes for First Nations people.
"This prestigious award celebrates nobility of character, commitment to change, and the strength to succeed, all attributes held by Ms Edwards," Mrs Taylor said.
Ms Edwards said she feels incredibly honoured.
"I am surrounded by strong women. This isn't just about me, it's a journey of everyone that works in the financial literacy space for First Nations people," Ms Edwards said.
The NSW Women of the Year Awards are a highlight of NSW Women's week. This year 34 women and girls were recognised as finalists in the NSW Women of the Year Awards, along with 84 Local Women of the Year who were also celebrated.
