Volunteering Australia has announced the 2023 National Volunteering Conference will be held on 13-14 February at the Australian National University (ANU), Canberra. This is an event not to be missed as they launch Australia's first National Strategy for Volunteering in ten years.
The Future is Now
Volunteering Australia is delighted to announce the theme for the 2023 National Volunteering Conference: The Future is Now.
This theme will challenge delegates to explore how our actions today will build a better future for volunteering.
The 2023 National Volunteering Conference is Australia's leading event on the volunteering calendar. As the national conference, the event is dedicated to fostering an inclusive and open discussion on the future of volunteering and highlight practical and innovative approaches to reimagine volunteering in Australia.
The National Volunteering Conference provides a platform for not-for-profit and corporate leaders, government representatives, academics and researchers, volunteer management professionals, and volunteers to come together to address emerging issues of high priority.
The conference will be focused on the next ten years and explore how, together, we can build a better future for volunteering.

Scholarship opportunities
Applications now open for scholarships to support attendance at the National Volunteering Conference 2023
The Department of Social Services (DSS) has generously provided funding towards scholarship opportunities for the National Volunteering Conference in Canberra.
The scholarships are designed to enable attendance for individuals who would not otherwise be able to attend.
Volunteering WA is managing arrangements for this in WA on behalf of Volunteering Australia.
Applications are encouraged from:
- Regional, remote, or rural communities
- Those experiencing financial disadvantage or from identified low socio-economic areas
- Voluntary and community organisations
Scholarships are available to:
- Coordinators and managers of volunteers (paid and unpaid capacity).
- Not for profit leaders and emerging leaders (paid and unpaid capacity).
- Community leaders and emerging leaders (paid and unpaid capacity).
Three categories of scholarship are offered:
- Full scholarship – Includes conference registration, return travel from any major port, and accommodation to cover the conference period. This category is designed to service organisations and scholars with no alternative resources to attend.
- Part scholarship – Includes conference registration and accommodation to cover the conference period. This category may be suitable for organisations and individuals with the capacity to access budget travel options.
- Conference registration. This category is designed for organisations and individuals who do not need, or who can self-fund travel and accommodation costs.
Applications close on 18 November 2022. The outcome of all applications will be advised by 6 December 2022.
