But there are still some wet season conditions further north, with showers and storms across north Queensland and the Northern Territory, which are places which are experiencing some flooding. Across southern parts of the country, quite a warm day through the south-eastern states. But we have this cold front approaching, bringing some cooler winds and some showers to southern WA.
Let's go through the states, starting up in Queensland. And the rain from the last few days will clear up overnight tonight, so by Tuesday morning it's much drier. We'll still see a few showers along the east coast from Townsville down to Brisbane, but they will be much more sparse and spread apart and a lot lighter than rainfall from recent days.
But of course, all that water which has come down is now in the rivers, and it will take a few days before those river levels do subside. So we'll continue to see some flooding through many rivers across eastern Queensland, even with those brighter overhead conditions. Showers and thunderstorms continue across the north from about Townsville up to the Peninsula and across the Gulf.
Down through New South Wales. A few showers across the east coast, especially in the morning, and that could really affect everyone from Wollongong up to the Queensland border. Some showery weather here through the morning hours becoming really sparse and spread apart across the afternoon, and not a whole lot wet weather remaining after lunch there. Western and southern parts of the region will have bright sunny skies and quite warm temperatures.
That includes Canberra, a high of 29 °C and sunny conditions, and other places will be in the low thirties.
A little bit of morning cloud across Victoria, but that should all break apart before lunch and then a bright sunny afternoon right across the state. And given we're into March now, the temperatures that we see on the map for Tuesday are a little bit warmer than average, with high twenties to mid thirties across central and northern parts of the state. A little bit cooler on the south coast around Wilsons Prom.
We'll have a cloudy start and a cloudy finish for Tasmania, but hopefully that sun will come out through the middle of the day and make a good appearance. Dry weather through most of Tuesday with relatively warm temperatures in the mid twenties for most areas, but we're likely to finish Tuesday with some showers moving into the west and then some showers into the far north either late Tuesday night or perhaps overnight.
Also quite warm weather across South Australia. Temperatures here on the warm side of seasonal average now that we are into March, into these slightly cooler months after summer, so mid thirties is still fairly warm. A little bit of cloud possible on the very far south coast, but other than that it is a sunny day with a building wind.
To Western Australia. A cold front moving through will bring cooler conditions right across the south. Perth to 25 °C, there'll be a few showers as well. Now probably not much rain, or any rain in Perth, but certainly from Margaret River down across the south coast and even pushing into parts of the southern interior we could see some showery weather through the day on Tuesday. And it will get quite blustery around this region too, especially across the Eucla. Temperatures in the north show no signs of cooling down. We've still got 40 °C plus for interior parts of the Pilbara, upper thirties across the coastline.
And finally to northern Australia. Another day where we see showers and thunderstorms with the potential for heavy rainfall across the Top End. And that could mean more rain finding its way into the rivers, which are already swollen. There's still Major Flood Warnings in place for the Katherine River and the Daly River, and we might see some more rain feeding those rivers.
Outside of the Top End, it's a fairly settled picture for this part of Australia. A bright day without much chance of rain across the Kimberley, and anyone south of Tennant Creek will be having sunny skies as well.
