Neil Yardeni Sentenced, Police Acknowledge Outcome

As stated by Detective Sergeant Caroline Johnson:

Police acknowledge the sentence handed down to Neil Yardeni, a 55-year-old man sentenced to 11 years and 3 months in the Christchurch District Court today.

In July, Yardeni was found guilty of rape, sexual violation by unlawful sexual connection, two counts of making intimate visual recordings and 17 counts of indecent assault.

Throughout the process, 15 brave women gave evidence in relation to his offending, and we appreciate the strength it took to hold the offender to account.

We hope the sentence gives them some closure, although we know it cannot undo the harm they have endured.

We thank the investigation team, the Crown prosecutors, and specialist support staff who worked with professionalism and dedication to achieve this outcome.

Police believe there could be more victims, and we encourage them to come forward. Police have staff dedicated to investigating these cases, and we provide a space to report offending in confidence. If you would like to speak to Police in relation to this man and his offending, please refer to Operation Olive.

We will listen, and we take all reports seriously.

As this has now concluded in Court, Police will not be providing further information on this matter.
