The Allan Labor Government is delivering five new trails for mountain bikers to explore at picturesque Mt Buller - boosting local tourism, jobs and businesses.
Minister for Tourism, Sport and Major Events, Steve Dimopoulos announced construction will begin on 10 kilometres of new single-track mountain bike trails, thanks to the Regional Tourism Investment Fund.
The new trails cater to all levels of mountain biking, with two beginner and family-friendly options and three gravity trails that offer thrill-seeking jumps for riders chasing an adrenaline rush.
The new trails add to the existing 60-kilometre network, improving connectivity across the Mt Buller and Mt Stirring trail network and access between the Alpine Resorts.
Many of the new trails will take more than a day to complete, encouraging overnight stays in the Alpine region, with the project expected to attract more than 5,000 summer visitors each year.
The new trails are expected to generate $5.2 million annually for the Victorian economy and support 52 full-time jobs.
Construction is set to wrap up in April 2026, just in time for an epic Easter holiday adventure.
This year Mt Buller hosted the National Mountain Biking Championships, which attracted more than 4000 visitors. With the 2026 championships locked in at Mt Buller, the expanded trail network is expected to attract even more high-profile mountain biking events from around Australia.
Attracting visitors to the High Country is an important part of Victoria's economy. Alpine Resorts Victoria estimates that Alpine Resorts contribute more than $2 billion annually, supporting more than 12,000 full-time jobs.
The new trails will be delivered in partnership with Alpine Resorts Victoria who are contributing to the project. For more information about the new trails, visit mtbuller.com.au.
