New clinic pops up in Hedland to support Covid vaccination effort in Pilbara

  • New pop-up, walk-in COVID-19 vaccination clinic opens in Hedland
  • Convenient opportunity for local community members to get vaccinated
  • Vaccine Commander Chris Dawson visited Hedland this morning to see the State's latest pop-up COVID-19 vaccination clinic in operation.

The clinic is located at Gratwick Hall at the Civic Centre in Port Hedland and is open between 8.00am and 8.00pm every day from Monday, October 4 until Sunday, October 10.

It will be host to a community "vax-a-thon" during this period. The clinic is being run by Aspen Medical on behalf of the Commonwealth, in collaboration with the WA Country Health Service (WACHS) and other industry partners including BHP and the Town of Port Hedland.

Eligible people in Hedland can walk into the clinic and get vaccinated, without needing an appointment.

Everyone aged over 12 years is eligible for a COVID-19 vaccination. People can visit www.rollup.wa.gov.au to register and book their vaccination appointments.

WA Health State-run COVID-19 vaccination clinics are available in more than 100 locations across Western Australia, with sites listed on the HealthyWA website.

COVID-19 vaccinations are also provided by a range of GPs, GP respiratory clinics and pharmacies across the State. People are encouraged to speak to their local health care provider to find out more.

More than 1 million Western Australians have now received two doses of a COVID-19 vaccine.

As stated by Health Minister Roger Cook:

"My message for the community in the Pilbara is clear - if you are eligible to get vaccinated, please get vaccinated as soon as you can.

"Roll up for WA - and do your bit to protect yourself, your loved ones and your community."

As stated by Vaccine Commander Chris Dawson:

"Having convenient opportunities for people in the regions to get vaccinated is essential.

"It is great to visit Hedland and see the new COVID-19 vaccination clinic in action.

"The communities in Tom Price and Paraburdoo really stepped up earlier this month when mass vaccination clinics were held there so I'm hoping the people of Hedland will take this opportunity to roll up their sleeves too.

"I urge all eligible Western Australians to get vaccinated against COVID-19 as soon as possible."
