The State Government has transferred two lots in South Hedland to the Town of Port Hedland for a new Playspace precinct and dog activity space to revitalise area.

The two lots in Kennedy Street, South Hedland, are currently vested in the Department of Communities and were leased to the Town of Port Hedland for the development of the Marquee Waterpark which opened to the community in 2013.

The Town of Port Hedland will now repurpose the sites for a new Playspace Precinct and dog recreation area, which has been identified as a significant community need.

Comments attributed to Lands Minister John Carey:

"This new Playspace area and dog activity space will be a great addition to the South Hedland community for now and into the future."
