New Resident Guide launch

Dubbo Regional Council (DRC) launched its official New Resident Guide and New Resident Program at the Western Plains Cultural Centre this morning, Wednesday 14 December 2022.

The launch event was attended by over 40 people including DRC Mayor, Councillors, Council staff, partnering businesses, community and sporting organisations and families featured in the New Resident Guide.

The New Resident Program will be in market for the next 18 months, supporting new residents and potential new residents by connecting them with relevant services and organisations to make them feel welcome and their transition to the Dubbo Region easier.

The program promotes the benefits of living and working in regional NSW via various channels, including the New Resident Guide, social media, and New Resident Events in Dubbo and Wellington.

Dubbo Regional Council Mayor Mathew Dickerson unveiled the cover of the New Resident Guide and addressed the launch attendees. "The attraction and integration of new residents into the community are vital for our region to continue to thrive. Our unemployment rate sits at 3.3%, one of the lowest in the country and our continued economic growth will rely on both skilled and non-skilled employees making the move to the Dubbo Region."

Manager Strategic Partnerships and Investment Tim Nichols shared some insights about the New Resident market: "The population of the Dubbo Region has grown by nearly 5,000 people in five years from 2016 to 2021 with around 55,000 people currently calling the Dubbo Region their home."

"The New Resident Program allows new residents to smoothly settle into the region by connecting them with essential service providers like childcare, schools, medical professionals as well as leisure activities, community organisations and events," Mr Nichols said.

The first New Resident Event in 2023 will be held at the Old Dubbo Gaol in February 2023.

The New Resident Guide is available for collection from DRC's Customer Experience buildings, Visitor Information Centres and partnering business across the Dubbo region.
