Premier Mark McGowan was in Geraldton today to visit Rangeway Primary School's exciting new science lab for students.
The school also received $400,000 as part of the WA Recovery Plan which will be used for refurbishments and external landscaping including decking and shade sails.
The McGowan Government's $17 million election commitment includes $12 million to transform 200 existing primary school classrooms into science laboratories by 2021, with an additional $5 million for resources.
Schools were selected based on their plans to grow and improve science education at their schools to skill students for the jobs of the future.
As with each school involved, Rangeway Primary School identified an area to be transformed.
In addition, the school received $25,000 to purchase laboratory equipment and resources such as 3D models of the solar system and human anatomy, digital microscopes, 3D printers, virtual reality headsets, robotics kits and renewable energy kits.
The McGowan Government is investing $1.1 million in schools in the Mid-West as part of the WA Recovery Plan.
As stated by Premier Mark McGowan:
"This is part of our plan to ensure schools across the State are equipped with modern facilities to create the best possible learning environment for students, no matter where they live.
"A strong investment in science in our schools will ensure young Western Australians are prepared for jobs of the future. Modern laboratories in primary schools will get students excited about science and provide them with hands-on experience.
"We are investing an unprecedented $492.2 million in schools across the State as part of the WA Recovery Plan, which is supporting WA's economic recovery and delivering fantastic learning facilities."
As stated by Education and Training Minister Sue Ellery:
"We want all Western Australian students to learn in high quality facilities so they can get the best possible opportunities.
"This new learning space at Rangeway Primary School will inspire students and promote creativity and problem solving, benefitting them now and on into their secondary schooling."
