Western Australia has reconnected with mainland China through the seasonal return of China Southern Airlines' nonstop flights from Guangzhou to Perth.
The service, secured in partnership with Perth Airport, will operate three times per week until March 2026, with a seasonal uplift to four times per week from 14 December until 1 March.
During the peak holiday period, the service is estimated to provide more than 1,100 additional inbound seats to WA each week.
China Southern Airlines previously operated year-round services between Guangzhou and Perth from 2011 to 2020, and recommenced seasonal flights in November 2024 over the Christmas and Chinese New Year period.
China remains WA's largest tourism market by visitor spend, with 65,000 Chinese visitors contributing $457 million to the State's economy in the year ending June 2025.
Tourism WA is supporting the seasonal service through co-operative marketing, as part of the Cook Government's broader strategy to secure a year-round connection between China and Perth.
This seasonal service between Guangzhou and Perth is set to operate over the Chinese New Year period and is one of 20 direct international routes connecting WA to the world, reinforcing Perth's position as a growing global aviation hub and Australia's Western Gateway.
These nonstop flights form part of the Cook Government's economic diversification strategy, attracting out-of-state visitors to increase tourism across Western Australia, providing a boost to business and industry and to support local jobs.
