Nine winners in Teaching in Territory Excellence Awards

NT Government

Congratulations to the winners of the 2021 Teaching in the Territory Excellence Awards which acknowledge the dedicated teachers, principals, leaders and support staff providing high calibre education services across the NT.

These annual Awards coincide with the Northern Territory's World Teachers' Day, an important day of recognition for educators around the globe, and an opportunity for schools to celebrate the positive outcomes they have on the lives of young people.

Donna Wright, Principal at Sadadeen Primary School in Central Australia, is one of nine Teaching in the Territory Excellence Awards recipients, taking out the coveted 2021 Northern Territory Principal of the Year.

Donna has dedicated 20 years to education in the Northern Territory, working collaboratively with teachers and staff to provide rich programs for students.

As the Principal at Sadadeen Primary School Donna is now focused on learning opportunities and outcomes for all students across a range of learning areas through clear and coherent program delivery and high expectations for learning.

She has led her team at Sadadeen to significantly improve the school environment to meet the diverse needs of their learners, through the development and implementation of a trauma aware framework, which focusses on understanding how trauma affects learning in the classroom and how to best support students those who have experienced trauma.
