Nominations Open for Resources Sector Excellence Awards

  • Nominations now open for the 2025 Resources Sector Awards for Excellence
  • Awards recognise environmental management and strong community partnerships
  • Nominations close 5pm Friday, 30 May

Nominations are now open for the Resources Sector Awards for Excellence.

The awards recognise innovation, outstanding achievements and leadership in the responsible development of Western Australia's natural resources, with a strong focus on environmental sustainability and benefits to local communities.

As one of two categories, the Golden Gecko Award has celebrated environmental excellence for more than 30 years, recognising companies that go above and beyond their regulatory requirements.

The second category is the Community Partnership Resources Sector Award, which acknowledges those building meaningful community partnerships that extend well beyond the life of a project.

Nominations close at 5pm on Friday 30 May, with winners to be announced at an awards ceremony later in the year.

All entries are assessed on their own merits. There is no direct competition between nominations, and more than one award may be presented in each category.

As stated by Mines and Petroleum Minister David Michael:

"The Cook Government is proud to champion responsible resource development in WA and we will continue to support projects that deliver local benefits and prioritise environmental sustainability.

"These awards recognise that industry, government and the community can strike a successful balance between robust environmental standards and a dynamic resources sector.

"Effective environmental management and meaningful community engagement help build public trust and reinforce WA's reputation as a reliable, forward-thinking global partner."
