North Sydney: Man Charged in Sexual Assault Case

A man will face court today charged following an investigation into an alleged sexual assault in Sydney's north earlier this week.

About 7.30am on Tuesday (2 June 2026), police were called to Carlow Street, North Sydney, following reports a 17-year-old girl had allegedly been sexually assaulted while travelling in a rideshare vehicle in the North Sydney area.

A crime scene was established by officers attached to North Shore Police Area Command and an investigation commenced.

Following extensive inquiries, about 6.30pm yesterday (Wednesday 3 July 2026), detectives arrested a 50-year-old man at Mascot.

He was taken to Surry Hills Police Station where he was charged with enter take or detain person with intent to obtain advantage cause actually bodily harm, and aggressive sex assault - deprive liberty.

He was refused bail to appear before Local Bail Division – Court 7 today (Thursday 4 July 2026).
