NSW latest coronavirus data as at 5 April

As at 8pm, Saturday, 4 April 2020, an additional 87 cases of COVID-19 have been diagnosed, since 8pm 3 April, bringing the total number of confirmed cases in NSW to 2,580.

There are 279 COVID-19 cases being treated by NSW Health, including 39 cases in our Intensive Care Units and, of those, 23 require ventilators at this stage. More than 50 per cent of the remainder of cases being treated by NSW Health are through Hospital in the Home services. There have been 16 deaths.

The rate for which COVID-19 cases increase on average each day has fallen over the past fortnight from just over 25 percent to around 4 percent. However, it is too soon to tell whether this trend will be sustained.

Sadly, NSW Health confirms the death of four people from COVID-19, bringing the total to 16 deaths. NSW Health passes on our condolences to the families of these people.

A 91-year-old male who was confirmed to have COVID-19 has sadly passed away in Port Macquarie Base Hospital. He was a passenger on the Ruby Princess.

An 80 year old male who was confirmed to have COVID-19 has sadly passed away in Westmead Hospital. He was a passenger on the Ruby Princess.

A 76-year-old male who was confirmed to have COVID-19 has sadly passed away in Westmead Hospital. He was a passenger on the Ruby Princess.

A 61-year-old male who was confirmed to have COVID-19 has sadly passed away at Hornsby Hospital.

Ovation of the Seas, Voyager of the Seas and the Celebrity Solstice left NSW on midnight Saturday 4 April.

Bankstown Senior (Adult) High School has one confirmed case, in a student. Contact tracing is underway.

NSW Health is alerting passengers who were close contacts on flights to monitor for symptoms, and contact their GP, but call ahead first, or call healthdirect on 1800 022 222, or visit a NSW Health COVID-19/Flu assessment clinic should they become unwell.
