NSW police probe after two men seriously injured by fire

Police are investigating after two men were injured in a fire at a licensed premises in Sydney’s west this morning., NSW Police say

About 1.45pm tomorrow, emergency services were called to a licensed premises on the Great Western Highway at Emu Plains, following reports of a fire.

On arrival, officers from Penrith Local Area Command located a 29-year-old man on the road with serious burns.

Police rendered assistance to the man. He was taken to Nepean Hospital and later transferred to Royal North Shore Hospital with life-threatening injuries.

A second male was located by NSW Ambulance Paramedics at Avoca Street, Emu Plains, with serious burns.

He was taken to Concord Hospital.

A crime scene has been established and police are treating the blaze as suspicious.

The Great Western Highway between Old Bathurst Road and Billington Place remains closed.

There is no access to commuter parking areas at Billington Place or Station Street at Emu Plains and businesses at Station Street Shops are closed.
