NT Budget Bolsters Infrastructure Pipeline

Cement Concrete & Aggregates Australia

Cement Concrete & Aggregates Australia (CCAA) has welcomed the Northern Territory Government's continued investment in infrastructure, highlighting the important role of heavy construction materials in delivering the Territory's economic and community priorities.

The 2026–27 Northern Territory Budget includes a $4.25 billion infrastructure program, supporting major investments in roads, housing, community infrastructure and economic development.

Recent analysis by Oxford Economics shows the cement, concrete and aggregates industry contributes $122.1 million to the Northern Territory economy and supports 451 jobs, underscoring its role as a key enabler of construction activity and economic growth.

CCAA Chief Executive Officer Michael Kilgariff said the Budget reinforces a strong and sustained pipeline of work across the Territory.

"While the overall infrastructure program has stabilised slightly, the scale of committed works remains significant and continues to drive strong demand for construction materials across the Territory," Mr Kilgariff said.

"Cement, concrete and aggregates are fundamental to delivering the roads, housing, energy systems and community infrastructure that Territorians rely on every day."

The Budget includes substantial investment in transport infrastructure, remote housing and economic enabling projects, aligning with key demand drivers across the Territory including regional infrastructure upgrades, defence investment and resource development.

Mr Kilgariff said ensuring reliable access to construction materials will be critical to delivering these projects efficiently.

"The Territory presents unique delivery challenges, including distance, climate and dispersed demand. A strong and resilient materials supply chain is essential to ensure projects are delivered on time and on budget," he said.

"CCAA looks forward to continuing to work with the Northern Territory Government to support the delivery of this important infrastructure pipeline and the long-term growth of the Territory economy."
