NZ police arrest man after Rotoma burglary

A Bay of Plenty man was arrested yesterday (Thursday) following a burglary and fleeing driver incident.

Kawerau and Edgecumbe Police were alerted to a man leaving the scene of a burglary on SH30 at Rotoma in a station wagon about 10.30am.

Police soon located the vehicle however the driver failed to stop and a pursuit was initiated.

Road spikes were deployed on Tamarangi Drive in Kawera and the vehicle came to a stop on River Road.

A 54-year-old man was arrested and charged with failing to stop and burglary.

He is expected to appear in Whakatāne District Court today (Friday 18 June).
